If you look at the list in the colored box, you can also see the film clips of what most people say is BS when they hear it..... a C-130 doing carrier ops!

Very nice video editing. A C-130's wingspan makes this an impossible task.
I saw Harm do it on JAG! Good enough for me :>)
The USMC performed the feat in October, 1963 aboard the USS Forrestal.

It was NOT video editing...... IIRC, the wingtip cleared the island by only 5-6ft, that's why nothing more was done! The clips were filmed when the ops were done in calm seas - they figured rough seas would make it next to impossible.

Never stood on Forrestal's main deck, eh ?
252' mean beam (max flight deck beam >excluding< obstructions.C-130F needed 65' to clear the island. Not a problem on Forrestal.
Look at the two vids again and see where the bird tracks.
In the take off vid the left wing is way out over the blue stuff 'cuz the left mains are tracking along the deck edge.
Forrestal is in the Philly reserve fleet, if you'd care to find out what _w_i_d_e_ means.
