Graupner Foka glider CG

This is a question for old Graupner sailplane flyers. I picked up a Graupner Foka from somene in my local club who can't see to fly anymore.

Does anyone have the proper CG for this plane? I'm tempted to use 35% of the chord. Since I haven't flown gliders before I'm unsure if they prefer the CG further back than fuel powered.

Any sailplane gurus out there want to give me a general heads up?

Now to find a good Thermal, what ever that is. You think Tower Hobbies has any Thermals in stock? ;-)

Cheers,

Roy

I'm not familiar with the Foka, but on sailplanes with a semi-symetric airfoil the CG is going to be in the 35-40% range. Flat bottomed,

30-35% range. It really depends a lot on the Pilot and how 'loose' or unstable he likes his plane to fly. The farther the CG is towards the tail of plane, the flatter the glide, or better the Lift to Drag ratio (L/D).

Thanks. That answers my questions. I think 35% will suite me fine. Now if I can get the weather on the west cooast of Norway to co-operate I'll be able to try this bird.

Cheers,
