where can i buy a good model airplane that i can learn with for not a lot of cash

I would reccommend that if you want to learn to fly on your own in the local schoolyard/field that you look for something from HobbyZone, such as the Commander which goes for $109.99. Here is a link:

If you want to get into gas planes, I would reccommend the Hangar 9 Alpha trainer, which goes for $289.99. You should contact your local R/C club for assistance to learn to fly this one. Here is a link:

The Airmadillo trainer is what I learned with, took a hell of a beating manytimes and is still flying !

You can save even more bucks by building a SPAD ! The Debonair is a great flying plane and perfect to train on.
I'd stay away from the little low-cost electrics. Have you been down to your local flying field ? Best to use what your instructor feels comfortable training you on. However, if you are going to do the unmentionable "go it alone" thing you really should look at my recommendations and have some decent homeowners insurance. Hitec Laser4 radio $130 GMS .47 engine $70 SPAD Debonair $30 Glowstarter, fuel &pump, misc. $50 = Under $300 ! Not a bad start if I say so myself. And since you want be flying a wood model youll be sure to learn without much heartache !
