Orline D-7 Fokker

I had an Orline Piper Tomahawk. I gave up building it after making about the 100th modification to make it airworthy. I still have the wing in the workshop (I spent a LOT of time on it so I had to keep it) but tossed the rest of it. I was not really impressed with the kit, especially after I got the Airsail Tomahawk kit

Very heavy wood, very weak wing structure, weak landing gear mounting. The plastic cowl was okay, though.

If the other Orline kits are the same, I would avoid them.

Bill, I had an Orline Sopwith Pup that I built in the 70's which I used extensively with the Virginia Air Show Squadron team, and it flew like a dream on a K&B 61. I'll say that it wasn't built like a tank but it was strong enough to survive the less than pretty landings that were dictated by some of the locations we had to fly at. Covered it with Super Coverite and can't remember how much it weighed but it had about a 60" span. It met its demise in a midair at the NVRC field. I would build another if I could get one and with the four strokes available now, it would be neat.

Thanks Phil and you others who responded. I did trade a Skylane62 for the Orline Fokker.
