Re: Swivel ball rod ends

I was just looking at some du-bro 2-56 rod ends and I would really like

I'm fussy, and don't like to drill out the carburetor control arm on a nice engine just to install a 2-56 screw. So I found some leader swages (just tiny copper tubes plated with silver nickel) at the fishing store that are just the right size for making a bushing in the ball, that will accept a 0-80 machine screw. You need to take a screw and ball with you when you go to the fishing tackle store, to make sure you got the right size. They're too long (~1/2"), so just chuck one gingerly in your drill, and use a sharp x-acto knife to cut to length. Go a bit long and use a point file or emery board to get it just the right length. I like to make them just a bit long so that they compress when the screw is tightened. I use the socket head 0-80 screws.

For #1 screws, you're on your own!

In my previous post, I was talking about modifying one of the Du-Bro #367 ball links, with the black nylon "shackle" and brass sphere-with-a-hole ball. I realize that Chris may have been talking about Du-Bro #181, translucent nylon shackle and black steel ball. This is indeed available with a 0-80 end, it's #190. I like the black ones better.

Dubro also I believe. Check the LHS if you have one. I think Dubro also has a web site. Dan Thompson (AMA 32873, EAA 60974, WB4GUK, GROL) remove POST in address for email

Dubro #190. It is called a 1/16" link. The thread is 0-80 IIRC. They are great for throttle arms.
