Sig J-3 (RC3) versus Clipped Wing (RC26)

Other than wingspan, are there any other differences from one kit to the other?

Good, but inexpensive 4-cycle for either? Magnum 52?

Thanx Lotz

A 52 would be fine if you want to replicate the little-known allison-powered fighter version, the FJ-3 ;-)

Sig recommends a 40 - 45 4-stroke for the RC3 (1/6 scale, 71" span). Mine flies great on an OS 26 four-stroke - climbs readily at full power, cruises at 1/2 throttle, most realistic at 1/3-1/2. Even plenty of power for float flying. I build light, so a 26 might not be for everyone, but I'd have a hard time recommending anything bigger than a 40 4-stroke.

I am using a Magnum 52. Runs well but is a bit hard to start. It is the only engine I have that will not start by hand. If you get the Magnum make sure you adjust the valves before using. If I had to do it again, I would get a Saito. The price was right for the Magnum ($119) and at that price, it is a good deal.
