SuperTigre 45 Question

If you are using a higher nitro level, you need to reduce the compression ratio to avoid the risk of detonation. This is usually done by adding a thin aluminium shim to the head that slightly increases the cyclinder volume. You may well fnd that one was included with your engine.

I have recently purchased one of these motors and have been reading some things I am not too sure about. I run Cool Power 20% heli fuel in everything I have and have never had a problem. According to SuperTigre I should use 10%-15% fuel or if I use a higher nitro content fuel I need to adjust the compression ratio to prevent detonation. Should I lower the ratio or raise it? Anybody else have any experience with this issue?

Is it the ringed or ABC version? Which Cool Power blend are you using?

If you are using 100% synthetic Cool Power, you should only use it with a ringed engine.

If you need to use higher nitro, lower the compression by adding another head gasket. I think you would find that this engine runs very well on 10% sport fuel. You won't get much more power using higher nitro.

First off the Super Tiger .45 Is an abc type engine. So do it the easy way and follow the instruction's 5% to 15% nitro. Max. Take the time to break the engine in properly according to instruction's and it will run forever. I've got 6 of these ranging from .40 to .90 and run them all on FAI fuel and they all run perfect, plenty of power. Keep you fuel clean as the smallest amount of dirt will give you fits. I use Omega fuel 18 % oil.

Dana, I had this all written before I saw it was you :-) Don't worry at all about using the 20% heli fuel in your motor, it will run fine. I have 2 gallons of cool power 20-20 pro pattern through my .45 now, and it has never missed a beat- If you gotta have a damn slimer, this will do. Lets go fly this weekend and you'll see.
