Thanks to all who were kind enough to help me out of my ignorance. I need some help in that regard again: what is the difference between a "glow plug warmer" and a "glow plug warmer?"

Simple....

A "glow plug warmer" warms glow plug, and a "glow plug warmer" warms a glow plug....

well, I call it a glow plug "lighter" but either way it simply gets the glow plug hot until the engine is started. Once it is running, it will make enough heat to keep itself glowing. I use a Hobbico "Hot Shot"......I like the twist on, twist off action These are about $15 (including charger) at my LHS

A glow plug igniter is a 1.2-1.5 volt attachment, whether hard wired to your flight box or self contained, that you attach to the glow plug to make it glow. Works just like the cigarette lighter in your car. Most are rechargable units with a nicad inside. Once the engine fires, the combustion inside will keep the plug glowing and you can remove the igniter. A glow plug warmer would be an on board self-contained igniter unit that turns on when the throttle is dropped to a certain setting and turns back off when the throttle is advanced. These are generally used in the case of an engine that is mounted inverted and is in danger of flaming out at low speeds or idle due to raw fuel snuffing out the glow plug. You plug your throttle servo and this unit into a Y connector then into the channel 3 socket of your receiver. Used one of these in a P47 with an inverted Magnum .91 fourstroke engine. Would allow the engine to idle at the most ridiculously low speeds. Mine is made by Ramline.

They're all glow drivers to me, whether in my pocket, built into the flight box, or installed in the model.
