OT - Job Posting

This is not an OFFICIAL job posting. But we ARE looking to hire someone. I am the engineer here. Don't hold me everything verbatim. My boss asked me to put out some "feelers" to see if there is any interest from this group. For details about the position, contact me off-group and I will direct you to my boss for the full scoop.

We are looking for a CNC machining center programmer/operator.

We are a small mold shop in the triad NC area. We build small to medium size precision molds. Honestly, we do pretty nice work here. Some of the current responsibilities would be: Programming and operating CNC mill (main job) Occasional programming and operating of CNC wire EDM machines (fairly rare) Occasional mold tear-down and/or assembly (fairly rare)

You will need to be proficient, or at least quickly adaptable, to run the following machines/software: Makino MAX65s (mill) Espirit 2006 (CAM software) Makino U32k (wire) Charmilles Robofil 2000 (wire) (yes, its fairly old, but still good) SolidWorks2006 wouldn't hurt either (that's what I use to design the molds)

What we cut most on the CNC mill: High speed milling of hardened tool steels Graphite electrodes Roughing routines (pre-EDM) on soft tool steels

Overall, it's a good place to work. I have been here for over 5 yrs. and am still happy here. It's fairly relaxed. The boss is very flexible. The benefits are very, very good (i.e. insurance is 100% paid for you and spouse, you don't see that just anywhere).

We do run kind of "lean-and-mean" most of the time. Meaning, sometimes you just gotta do what it takes to get the job done. For example, I myself have torn down and assembled molds in a pinch. Not needed to but a few times though. It's no biggie.

The shop isn't the cleanest in the world. But its not a pig-sty either. The guys in the shop are some of the greatest guys to work with. There is some real talent out there as well. I dare say some of the best around.

I honestly foresee us growing fairly rapidly in the next 1-3 years. There is already talk of buying a few more pieces of CNC equipment. We just purchased the property that we were renting. We are into several high-end industries right now. We build mold tooling for other countries. We are even getting ready to build a large tooling order, to be run in... China. Yep! That's right!!! US tooling being sent to China. That's another one you don't hear very often.

Like I said, email me off-group and I will redirect you to my boss for the details about the position. I am telling all of these facts, to my best knowledge. If you contact my boss, please don't quote me on any of this. I am sure he will tell you much the same things though.
