iFix...32 bit to the core?

May 05, 2004 1 Replies

Does anyone know the history of Intellution (GE now) iFix? I know that when software started going from 16 bit to 32 bit many HMI vendors simply put a

32-bit "wrapper" around their legacy code and others just scrapped the old stuff and developed from the ground up in 32-bit.

Which of these catagories does iFix fall into?

Thanks, WH

AIUI, iFix comes somewhere in between.

It is definitely descended from the old 16-bit FixDMACS and then 32-bit Fix32, but I don't think they re-wrote the whole thing.. maybe just the front-end.

(Hey, it's still as crappy as it used to be, so how could they? ;-)
