It may help to say what country you are in - particularly when posting at 2am UK time!
In the UK, a small halogen desklight ( five quid or less) will typically have a 20W lamp and a 12v 1667mA ac ouput transformer. Simply remove the telescopic arms and lamp and take a cable out from the connectors that go to them.
