Why I don't choose engineering, especially electrical engineering.
I wonder why don't most American women choose "electrical eng. career" or engineering in general? They are making the right decision. Engineering (especially electrical engineering) is a bad job.
First, if you are one of the CS/ME/EE/electrical engineers, then you are the first to loose your job (since 1970's and I read this from some ieee websites).
Second, it often takes years to find a new job and many left their engineering job to others non-eng & low-paid jobs. This is the current trend in US.
Third, if you want to go back to school, then the engineering field is huge (except civil engineering). As a result, you might not get the right concentration to find a job when you graduate. Most engineering schools are also very slow in upgrading their teaching technology. You'll have to use "world war II" technology in your labs.
Fourth, the most important part of your degree, you have no experience in any particular areas of engineering (even CE&CS). You need to get a job and learn/get the experience. So, since you have BS/MS/MA/PhD, you can't get any experience if you can't have any job.
So, you should choose what American women chose! Go to nursing, pharmacy, or teaching (education), because you will have the skill you need to get the job to make a decent salary. Nursing is my choice now.
GNT Note: Don't choose biotech! It is a new trend, but it can be moved to China, India, Russia (Asia in general), and even "Cuba".
