We do not need to know your opinion of such posts -- it is very clear... Your responses to usenet spam can also be considered usenet spam themselves, as there are no moderators on usenet so no one has extended you the power or authority to make such public determinations on its behalf... You have the right to your opinions and to express them Key, but you are no better than the class of people you consider "spammers" when you sink to their level and harass them back...

Ever wonder why occassionally we get a "troll friend" that overtly harrasses posters to this newsgroup -- look deep into your own self and you will see what is apparent to many here -- that your running commentary on what you do or do not consider to be spam attracts more attention than simply deleting the message and moving on with life after you forward you complaint to whoever it may concern...

well Evan, I do note your opinion. however, I have been around here a lot longer than you have. I haven't changed my ways yet and really don't plan to. if you know it or not ? I do have this groups best interest at heart and always have. I believe the real regulars around here know that. you say you speak for the group but I don't see very many of the real regulars backing you up.

It is not an "opinion", it is a factual statement backed up by trends in the posting to this newsgroup... And I don't have to have been here as long or longer than you to notice this...

Not if by offering your constant opinion you are creating a situation that invites or attracts abuse... Stick to sharing your knowledge of locks... Send your "spam" complaints to the proper ISP technicians, not the group...

So, they have other things to care about and don't really care enough to post more garbage to a newgroup to inform you that your garbage is stinking enough to attract flies... See below:

Why ??? When you sink to the same level as a spammer to send message-for-message replies to it you slow down the internet at an exponential rate for everyone else... That message responding to the "spam" is then placed on THOUSANDS of servers all around the world, just so you can have your say... Imagine how much more effective your "spam" complaints would be taken if you didn't personally try to act as a 'net vigilante... Might be worth experimenting with there Key...

You really do need to stop... USENET isn't USENET anymore its connected to the entire world these days, not just a few servers like it was ten years ago reserved for those techno-geeks that had the money for computers and modems... These days people are born into the world internet ready...

So you really should come out of the past and into the present...

If you want to send an e-mail to someone whom you think is abusing the privilage, or to their ISP, that's your choice. There is absolutely no need to share your annoyance with the rest of us by posting to the newsgroup; doing so only makes the situation worse, and the inevitable debate makes it worse again.

If you voice a public opinion, be prepared to accept others' responses. If you don't want to hear 'em, don't start the sequence. Just killfile the offending party and you, at least, will never hear from them again.

Given how easy it is to post to a newsgroup the same troll can have many accounts, from different ISP's and in order to be even remotely effective your kill-file would have to be quite large to have any real impact...
