Mini-Router

Hello All. Was doing an installment the other day when I realized I did'nt have my wood chisel-luckily I had a small cold chisel in the box, so I used that. Took up some time. Anyway, I was wondering if any of you have seen or use a mini-router(Craftsman makes one I think)Thinking about getting one. TIA, Ralph

The small ones are usually called laminate trim routers. Many manufacturers make them. Unless you are going to install a ton of locks the router might be more of a pain than having several sharp chisels.

There are also attachments to fit dremel type tools to turn them into super-mini-routers. They cut through a thin door skin pretty well, and can be played with by hand to trim to suit the final adjustment.

Hope this helps, Peter

Amazing all the workarounds we develop. I have learned that sometimes it's easier to dash to the store and buy whatever it is. My last dash to the store on a lock job was for an extension cord.

latch at

propped open, but I

whatever. My

make noise and

it amazes me how one can be working and people just have to go through the door being worked on. even when there are 4 other doors that can utilize.

A guy (I think over on clearstar) said he was thinking about getting a T-shirt made up that said "PLEASE USE OTHER DOOR" on the back.

Hello, Just want to say thanks to you guys for your opinions and input.I probably will just get the attachment for the dremel(19.95). In the mean time, I'll sharpen up the chisel for the small jobs. Later, Ralph.

p.s.Think I'll rev up the drill next time i'm doing a face bore so it smokes some.Scares 'em away good-lol.

Excellent idea! Too bad he can't copyright it, he could make some money. Of course that means that these people would have to read the shirt first and I don't know if I give them that much credit.
