Employment Opportunity: Advanced Process Control Engineer

Job Title: Advanced Process Control Engineer

Education: Electrical or Chemical Engineering degree with control theory.

Experience:

5+ years of process engineering and process control experience.

Required Skills: Control Strategy development, PLC/HMI, Ladder Logic, OPC, DDE and VBA.

Additional Desired Skills: Static and Dynamic Process Modeling, Dynamic Simulation, Advanced Control Strategy development, model-predictive control implementation, commissioning and tuning, Food Process engineering and analysis. Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer, Transport Mechanism. Application of basic process design and analysis skills towards process control engineering.

Job description and responsibilities: Adaptive Resources provides high-level process design, analysis and optimization solutions to the manufacturing industry with a focus on utilizing advanced control designs to deliver desired business results. These business results include helping the manufacturer improve quality, productivity, throughput, efficiency while reducing costs, energy usage and wasteage. The job responsibilities include conducting an audit of the manufacturing facility, analyzing the process design, procedures, operations and real-time data. As part of the data analysis, apply knowledge of basic heat transfer mechanisms, transport mechanisms, science, chemistry, physics, metallurgy etc. to define a sub solution space in order to identify the opportunities for improvement. Once an opportunity is identified, conduct a design of experiments to collect process data within the entire solution space, utilize basic engineering skills to identify a feasible sub solution space, create static and dynamic process models and design a custom advanced control solution that optimizes the process.

AR has a proprietary modeling, simulation and model-predictive control technology. Learning and applying this technology is a key part of the job description.

Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate would be a chemical engineer with extensive knowledge and experience in process controls. The candidate would have experience working in the plant either as an employee of manufacturer or as a provider of services. The candidate would have experience in data analysis, modeling and simulation. The candidate would have experience designing and implementing advanced control strategies using different control technologies such as PID, MPC, Neural Networks, Fuzzy Logic etc. The candidate would have strong technical writing skills and good inter-personal skills.

Candidate must live in Pittsburgh Metropolitan area. Relocation expenses are negotiable.
