Simplicity Thermo v Complexity Charlatans

Back during the OPEC oil embargo all kinds of complexity charlatans were pestering GM about buying the patent rights to their secret fuel additive XYZ.

GM didn't have time to get bogged down with a bunch of charlatans so the engineers resorted to a simple solution that could be called "simplicity thermo."

When the complexity charlatan showed up at GM, the receptionist would send him to a test track with a scale. An attendant would weigh the vehicle before and after a 100 lap test drive.

The complexity charlatan never even had an opportunity to discuss his complex invention.

And why would any sane person think a car manufacturer would be interested in a fuel additive?

You mean like telling them to go to Chevron where someone might have some interest in a fuel additive?
