Updating / Improving a Finite Element Model from Measurements

Hi,

I am looking for literature about how to update Finite Element Models (FEMs) by using results of measurements (e.g. frequency responses) performed on the previously modelled structure.

I know that one can compare eigenfrequencies, and maybe estimate the modal damping ratio for those, but is there a systematic approach for doing this, or is this more a manual operation? Are there specific methods around? ("model identification", "model update").

It's all about checking the accuracy of a FEM by comparison with measurements.

Thanks in advance for any helpful tips! Rainer
