Actually on-topic! Need some help on Mill rebuild

Hello,

I'm rebuilding a Bridgeport clone. It was made in Taiwan by Comet in the late sixties or seventies I'd guess.

I'm trying to put it back into good condition. But I don't have have any manuals or guides. I'm using some owner's 'manuals' for current Chinese mills. Not of very much help. No usable information.

Can anyone recommend a good book? I've seen several for lathes, but that doesn't do me much good.

I'd like something specific to mills with answers like -"What to use for the way wipers?" - "How smooth must the gibs be?" Stuff like that.

Thanks for any help that you can give.

Regards,

-jim

Nope.

Try to find a copy of "Machine Tool Reconditioning" by Edward F. Connely. Just saw a copy of it go on eBay for $202.xx

A good demonstration of auction fever. Powell's has it new for $93 and used for $60. It is the book for the task, but it isn't light reading.

Connelly, _Machine Tool Reconditioning_ has a chapter on gibs.

I am in the midst of this myself.

most of the Comets (actually surprisingly decent for the most part) are pretty faithful clones, so most of your BP data will hold true for the Comets.

Thank you Gunner. I haven't been able to find any real info on the Comets. It almost seemed like some kind of virtual brand. Do they still exist?

And of course I don't need to tell you, but folks like "Brain Dead" really are!

The correlation between the absence of mental facilities that lead to comments like his, his linguistic clumsiness, and his political comments are kind of striking, aren't they?

Thanks again for the help,

One wonders why you are obsessed with the penises of men on this list. Not enough boy toys for you in the UK?

As for Strider's slogan, my wife would like some of those as a bumper sticker. Anyone know if any are for sale? Hey gunner, some good tshirts for you on this site:
