Southgate (NAMES) - How's the neighborhood?

Sorry if I sound like a naive hick, but what's the area like where NAMES is being held? I was thinking of trying to book a room at the Baymont close by there - any comments?

TIA, Wallace

The Baymont is nice, and the best deal in the area. The Holiday Inn, where I stayed last year, is now wildly expensive, and the have a sneaky price increase that hits you on Sunday. For the best price, they wanted the money right now, no changes or cancellations.

The Baymont is a much better deal, and my wife accumulates their frequent guest "nights".

Southgate is getting pretty up-scale.

Hey Wally,

Very nice working class area, near the intersection of two major streets. No large or franchise accommodations, but some smaller older motels nearby. The "big name" grouping of motels is only a mile or so away, closer to I-75. The actual NAMES "site" is the Southgate Civic Center, with City Hall and cop shop in the parking lot.

Take care. I'm off Wednesday morning to help with set-up.
