Aluminum for trailer

May 27, 2004 3 Replies

I need suggestions for aluminum for a enclosed 6 x 10 motorcycle trailer. I'm thinking 6061 2 x 4 rectangular tubing. Should I use another type of aluminum? 6063? What would be a good dimension and thickness for the rect. tube?

How are you joining the aluminum? Welding? Is this for the frame or a frame for the enclosing material?

Dan

The frame of my aluminium car trailer is made of 1/8" wall 2X6 material, Mig welded. this is a 20" by 102" by 6.5" tall enclosed car trailer with 5000# GVWR.

Thanks for the answer. Just what I was looking for.
