Chinese VFSs?

Anyone using Chinese VFDs? I have been trying to replace a Mitsubishi 520 with no luck, so these $140 units are looking interesting. Have any of you used one, or know of ah honest online review?

Rex, Most of the ones I've bough are of either Chinese or Korean origin. Even a lot of the 'big name' units are made off-shore, regardless of their branding.

That said, I only buy from US-branded companies who stock in the US AND will give repair service in the US.

If only for that, they put themselves in the position of having to carry a better line of goods than you're likely to get from a direct-from-China vendor.

Yeah... they cost a little more, but nothing like the Mitsus or Burr- Browns.

If you're concerned it may be worthwhile checking that any UL or CE certification is genuine. A few years ago a company I worked for checked the CE certification on a Chinese tablet PC they wanted to use for a project and found it was fake. They took it up with the maker who admitted the CE certificate was a fake but that they were working on the genuine certification but in the mean time they could provide an alternate CE certificate if the fake one wasn't acceptable.

Lots of Chinese VFDs out there in use. However, if you would like a good domestic source (many of them imports) Drives Warehouse has a pretty good selection of name brand VFDs at what I consider to be pretty decent prices. They also are willing to answer questions and actually seem to know something about what they are selling.

Most VFDs are Chinese or, rarely, Japanese.

The Chinese can make good ones and bad ones. Guess what they will supply to a cheap no-name reseller?
