DRO and stops on a mill?

I just purchased a Millport milling machine, it is very much like a BP. The mill has DRO that I would like to keep but the DRO uses the locations for setting x and y stops. I would like to be able to use stops if I can. Any information would be great.

Why ???

But if you must, let your first project be in making up a new set of brackets so the scales can be re- located.

You might need to ( EEK!!! ) accurately hand drill and then tap some mounting holes in the castings......
