e-mail worms/spam/msft"crap" FIX

I just downloaded and installed the shareware program "mailwasher" about 20 minutes ago and it is catching and thinning out the stuff we are being bombed with. So far so good, I had to do a crash learn of smtp and pop and it took a few tries but so far it's helping.

I have been using my MailWasher as of the last few days. Heretofore, I had it but had not been using it. Now that I have put about twenty-five keywords in there, my morning e mails consisted of four instead of over a hundred.

A poster suggested that anyone who has MailWasher send in some cash (the program owner doesn't specify how much, so you can send a few bucks or a twenty) and get scripts and doodads that will make the program do even more. There are probably better anti-spam programs out there, but MailWasher is a deal for freeware, and a real deal if it works a lot better by adding five bucks.

Anybody know of a mailwasher for Mac? The viruses don't bother me but downloading 10Mb of .exe attachments is not good. Deleting them from webmail is not good either, 10Mb fills up in about 2 hours. I desperately need something to automatically delete attachments (especially .exe's) BEFORE DOWNLOADING. Any help appreciated.

They offer filtering, reporting, & virus scanning. You may be able to have your email forwarded to them by/from your current email account, or you can have their computer fetch your email at regular intervals. Or simply dispense with your current email account (except for sending mail), and use them directly.

The real prob lem is getting the .exe attachments off my mail server. They will automatically delete in 24 hrs but clog my mailbox until then. My Eudora does not allow me to choose message retention of less than 24 hrs on the server. Manually deleting them is very slooow, probably takes 10-15 min because the webmail responds so slow when it responds at all.

Absolutely.. Simply set it to delete.
