For Sale: Muzzle Loading Rifle barrel & stock (unfinished)

I have a muzzle loading rifle barrel and stock for sale. Both were purchased new from Dixie Gun Works in the early 1970's by my father but he never built the gun. The barrel is octagonal, .45 caliber, rifled with 8 grooves, 44 inches long, and one-inch in diameter (measured from flat-to-flat on the diagonal). The barrel also has the plug and tang in place. The stock is a Kentucky Long Rifle full stock and is a medium color hardwood that I believe to be cherry. It also includes the ramrod and two other long dowels of the same type of wood. It would require metalworking and woodworking skills to finish. The barrel needs to be drilled or grooved for a front site and also drilled for a percussion cap or flintlock assembly, and also blued or finished with browning salts. The stock is already grooved to accomodate the barrel and cut out for the trigger assembly but also needs the to be sanded and finished. Note that only the items listed are included, you would need to purchase (or build) the additional furniture such as the trigger assembly, butt plate, etc. This one was from the early 1970s and is American made rather than an import. I am asking $140 + actual shipping charges for both which is half the price that Dixie Gun Works currently lists in their catalog. I can email photos. I hope it is okay to post the for sale item here. I visit this forum occasionally with machining questions. Thanks.
