I hadn't noticed that it was linked to any other pages. OK, you said you had a $500 budget? It looks like you'll do it in under a hundred the way it's going so far. =:-0

Hehehe... the 500$ budget should be possible, but we have already spent about about 100$ on the control ( PWM regulators, Interface board etc.. ) and about 50$ for misc. hardware ( wheels, cordless drills etc )..

The base of the robot is complete and running now btw... I will throw some pictures at

later today...

All I need now is to write some bad software to test it :-)

So what all will this robot do, Peter? My first (and only, so far) robot was built with the Erector set my "uncle" gave to me when I was 7. He was 120v and moved as far as the extension cord let him. Yours appears to be a bit more mobile.

Bueno.

That ought to be easy. It's the good stuff which takes time. ;)

Heh! I had to think about that a moment before I figured out that it wasn't your uncle that was a 120v and limited in range 8-} Bob

Hmmm..... I dont really know what the use will be for now, but rest assured it wont be anything serious.. I was thinking of adding a coinslot and rent it out as a bartender :-)..

Just wrote something that can be used as an example of really bad software design, so if anyone teaches software design and need something to scare the students I can email you a copy of the source code :-D

He manufacturered (under contract) a Segway-type thing called American Char iot about 10 years ago. When they went belly-up Mike bought out the parts i nventory. It used dual 24V motors on the rear wheels. His prices are reason able and he's very knowledgeable.
