Gunner is an extreme partisan. In public, he blames a few groups and institutions for all of the world's problems. Whether he believes it himself is another question. In fact, I think it's unlikely that he's that screwed up.

There is only one real comparison between the Nixon administration and the current one and that's the fact that neither of them respects the law. Both administrations are your typical law and order type with themselves being exceptions. Simply put, the law applies to everyone except them.
Aside from that the similarities end. That's mainly because except for being led by a dishonest crook the Nixon administration was one of the more competent ones. As we have seen demonstrated by the repeated failures of the Bush administration his inner circle is probably the most incompetent bunch we've had in the White House in a century. When one starts adding up the failures it's really quite stunning. From the war in Iraq, to the trade deficits, to the health care failures, to the entitlement failures, to the fiscal irresponsibility they have demonstrated a unique ability to do nothing right. This could not be said of the Nixon administration. Except for his contempt for the law Nixon had a list of admirable achievements, which is not something you can say about the current administration. The bottom line is that while both the Bush and Nixon administrations are inherently crooked at least Nixon was competent and you can't even say that about Bush.

Well, I don't know about that. I believe in the philosophy stupid is as stupid does. In my experience a guy can be a whiz with tools and still be pretty damn stupid. Like when all someone can do is spit back the words of far right wing propagandists, in my book he's stupid.
