Is there any public library of G-codes

The thing that a decent AR can do that the Mini 14 cant do..is shoot a group smaller than 3-5" at 100 meters. Or bigger.

If they each make them themselves, that's legal, federally. If YOU make them for them, that's considered manufacturing and incurrs the $100K fines and 10 years in the fed's crossbar hotel. Plus tax penalties, 11% Pitmann-Robertson Act tax on commercially manufactured guns. Uppers are hardly worth messing with, they're NOT the controlled component. Lowers were always a toss-up, financially, except for the unpapered aspect. Since dealer's price for a stripped AR-15 lower is down around $56 now, it's not really worth tooling up. The buffer tube tap costs at least twice that. They already know where I live, so the unpapered thing has little attraction. The Minis I've shot have been order of washtub at 100 yards, the AR makes a single hole group at that range, the attraction on my side. That and magazines only cost a third of a Mini's.

As far as AK receiver "G" codes, the current batch is all sheetmetal, you can bend them up in an HF press and people do. There's a whole subculture out there making legal semis from imported parts kits. Flats are available. No G codes needed with sheetmetal.

That does seem to be the consensus.

Shooting a free held gun from a helicopter (on a bungee - not a pole), yeah, belt fed at 600 RPM works well.

But shooting on the ground, that's quite different. Especially if you have to carry all the ammo you'll ever have...

And Running Out Sucks...

It isn't responsible behavior.

They can be as stupid as they see fit. Then, absent any savings or other support of their own, they can eat their weapons when they need food and hide under them when they need shelter. See below.

They already do a lot of that without my liking it. Them's the rules.

Putting 25 percent or more of a years salary is somethng you do to provide for a home, not a toy you'll never have a real use for.

I find it extremely interesting that you could hold anyone but yourself in contempt Gunner. How's your "great cull" coming along?

What I believe is that until the risk that a person will end up broke and on the dole the way you are approaches zero that person has better things to spend money on than an expensive weapon that doesn't have much more utility than something affordable.

A better investment would be an education. That will do more to increase a persons chances of survival than any other single thing.
