Can any locksmith explain to me why locks are coded???

Why have codes for locks? Isn't this just a giant security vulnerability begging to be exploited? You currently have someone who is obviously no locksmith offering to post bitings for any code somebody posts so please explain for me the following:

  1. How can any rational person consider a lock secure if a code exists in the public domain that enables anyone with trivial skills and knowledge to make a key for the lock?

  1. Do you assert that code information is not public domain information in the common sense of that term? If so what if any controls do you assert there are on code information to keep it out of the public domain and available only to locksmiths WITH CLEAN CRIMINAL RECORDS. Do you assert that all suppliers of code information including private sellers on sites like yahoo auctions and ebay do exhaustive background checks on individuals purchasing code information? Do you assert that regular and exhaustive background checks are regularily done on ALL locksmiths in America who would have access to code information assuming it is not public domain information? If you answerd yes to all these questions then how do you think your current agent provocateur got his code info? Is he a bonafide locksmith with a clean criminal record and if so can even they be trusted to keep code information out of the public domain? On what logical basis can they be trusted if one is actively handing out code info to the public?

  2. Explain to me in detail how any supposed benefits of coded locks outweigh the obvious security risks. Locks afterall are suppose to keep people out. A lock with a key left in it or a combo written on the front of it isn't very secure. How is a lock with a code stamped on it's face anything more than a combination lock with the combination written right on it?

  1. Do you disclose to all of your customers who buy coded locks the specific security vulnerabilities inherent in using said locks?

  2. If you in any way assert that the sale of information like code lookup software is controlled can you explain to me why after purchasing a single change key for a single combination lock, as an individual, as opposed to any sort of locksmith company, I still get promos for among other things: code software, safe drilling rigs, code machines, automotive high security lock bypass tools for BMW Mercedes etc from one of the largest locksmith distributors in America? They know I am not a locksmith. They are mailing to a private residence and to my name not a company name.

Note that failure to provide direct and specific answers and/or screaming "troll troll troll" or similar childish nonsense will be considered prima facia evidence that you can't answer these questions and are completely unable to justify the use of coded locks in any way.
