Among the excess tools I am sorting through are some Jupiter Pneumatic impact guns. Are they any good? They seem to function, but as we all know that doesn't always mean they work.
I've got a few pneumatic impact tools, but I mostly just use my older (20 years maybe) Ingersol Rand 1/2 inch impact. It just works. My shop runs dry air these days, but I didn't always have a small industrial air dryer. Sometimes I remember to put in a couple drops of air tool oil before using. After my experience with newer Ingersol Rand air compressor and air nibbler I don't think Ingersol Rand is a top tier tool brand any more. I may never buy another one new.
My dad used to be a fan Since the 70/80s of Chicago Pneumatic, and I always had good luck with them in his shop, although I have not run across any in cleaning out his shop. I think Chicago Pneumatic may have had their name damaged since Harbor Freight's original air tool brand sounded similar (Central Pneumatic) and looked similar. The start of their trying to look like top tier names. I owned a couple Central Pneumatic tools and they worked great for a little while, but they didn't last.
My only experience with Jupiter Pneumatic was some small FRLs I used for a short time on some of my CNC machines. They ALL failed. Mostly the chambers with crack and start leaking around the locking ridge. I threw them all away including spares and replaced them with some I got from McMaster Carr. I don't recall the brand, but they have far surpassed the life of the JPs and are still in service.
So, anybody have any experience with Jupiter Pneumatic impact guns? Are they any good?
