It should. If you make a special tap and don't have the grinding capability, though, you generally can get away with just stoning the tops of the Vs to provide some relief. I've made a few that way and they work OK. They do drag, but they work. Use plenty of lubricant.

I made a large one once that dragged badly with only two gashes, so I added about four more and it cut just fine. I just ground the grooves with a Dremel held in my lathe toolpost.
