Need a "T" ratchet

||For some of my jobs (actually fencing) I could use a small T handled ||ratchet. The whole things needs to be small, no more than 6" across ||since I will be using it one-handed. Either 1/4 or 3/8 drive works, I ||have a chuck adapter that fits a square drive. I'll be using it to ||operate small drills (less than 1/4") and a phillips drive. || ||Any idea where I can get such a T-ratchet other than welding an extra ||arm to an existing ratchet? It's a lot harder to drill/drive straight ||with a one-sided ratchet, a t-handle works much nicer but doesn't have a ||ratchet.

I've seen ratchet heads made to use with a breaker bar.

3/8 female on one side, male on the other. About 5/8" thick. Finding one might be another matter. KD's newest catalog does not list one.

Small & light is desireable since my pockets are full of other stuff like insulators, staples, fence tool, saw, nippers, etc.

$nap-On still makes the ratchet adapter's Rex speaks of, and nice sliding 'T' handles that could be used too. Both can be had in 1/4 or

3/8 drive.

Their sliding 'T' handle's have an internal spring loaded detent ball firmly acting on the handle bar, keeping it from sliding around on it's own.

They also used to make (and probably still do for all I know) a 1/4 square drive, plastic 'T' handle driver, that used the same ratchet assy as their ratcheting screwdrivers. These sound tailor made for the original posters needs. My Brother in law has one of these, it's comfortable, and easy to reverse one handed. As I recall, they were made in various lengths too, from stubby on.

Their catalog is online, Google it up if you have trouble finding it.

I have a ratcheting tee handled tap driver. You would need a different adapter to hold your chuck, or maybe you could put a square end on some drills.

If they don't have it, it isn't in commerce.

Xcelite makes a ratcheting tee handle for their series 99 tools but I'm not sure whether they have a square drive adapter for it:

You can get a ratchet adapter and fit a sliding bar handle, but that setup gets somewhat tall. I'm not sure if that's an issue for you. Matco Tools sells a small 1/4 ratchet T-handle, but it's over $60. Welding a new handle on a ratchet might actually be best. I got a friend to weld one up for me (since I can't weld worth a damn) and it worked just fine. I actually cut half of the handle off and welded that bit to the other side. After some quality time with a grinder and sandpaper it was quite comfortable to use. Might have gone overboard, though--someone stole it a couple months later. ):
