OT- More Killed in California Than in War in Iraq!

Ok so now you guys are just getting silly.

I seem to recall the japanese bombed pearl harbor. I also seemt to recall some emperor guy signing something on a battleship several years later. Now you're telling me the surrender was all photoshopped, eh?

currently at war? Other than the news?<

Now, now; let's be fair here, I mean have you noticed any "bobbles" jumping up in your face from the savings and loan fiasco? Just because the effect isn't immediatly obvious and traceable to a specific cause doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Watch all the legislative manuvering for money and you'll see a "bobble". And why "other than the news" anyway? Do you imagine we'll hear about these things clarvoiantly (sp)?

First off, it's "altar" and I don't. Second, I got through the first half of Moore's movie and he made a smarmy statement that proved the rest of the thing bogus. And that was before he wormed his way into Heston's house. No good has come from our involvement in the Middle East yet, ever; it just costs money, materials, and lives. We are WAY less safe here in America as a result, too. If you want to remain in denial, have at it. This is just another Vietnam, bubba, only this time, if we screw up (and push the Muslims into critical mass) we're not going to survive it intact. (Shit, with the Patriot Act and the Shrub legacy, we're no longer intact as it is.)

Nope. ;)

There is a big difference between Iraq and Viet Nam Larry. When we pulled out of Nam the cong didn't come after us. When we pull out of Iraq they will continue the chase. They chased us into Baghdad and when we leave, so will they. Until then, we are their Red Team. They are taking the wonderful opportunity they have been given to study us and sharpen their operational skills, all at our expense. The ones we don't kill will be like MRSA. No known cure short of a near death dose of salts.

The Nipponese Surrender did NOT mean that hostilities were over - just the "Officially Sanctioned" armed phase of it.

The Military Occupation of Japan continued for years.

BTW, Japan is STILL waging war against the US - on the Economic Battlefield!

Care to try again, Jim?

What crap are you going to suggest next?

We...the Americans...didnt give Japan self government for 7 yrs AFTER they surrendered. And this from a nation that went American crazy shortly after they lost. Zoot suits, the whole encillada. And we kept troops there for well over 50 yrs. Same with Germany. We stayed in Germany for two reason..the #1 being we needed bases to counter the Russian threat, and because we well remembered that only 20 yrs earlier..Germany surrendered unconditionally, with strict restrictions on rebuilding their military machine. Which they did..in about 8 yrs total, when they decided to do so.

So Larry..what reason did we have for fighting in Europe in WW2? We were only attacked by the Japs.

Please be specific.

Just what do you mean by "Texas Oil" - you mean the various companies here that suck this state dry and our coast - buy you crying liberals that live and play on the coast keep them from using the oil leases they paid for ?!!

There isn't that much oil left in Texas - The East Texas field was tapped just about dry (they are drilling a few new wells now - hoping on the drip line) for WW II. It paid our way and fueled the Ships and planes and tanks and trucks... The Big and Little Inch was built (now more) from Texas to the East Coast - TAX free - no money for Texas or its' peoples - just lower rates than that in Texas next to the pump house. Political payola.

If products from other states are sold out - like iron ore or ... it is taxable in the sale. Just not Texas oil.

So Tell me What is 'Texas Oil and other Big interests' ?

It might become another Vietnam - it isn't now - but is it better there or in your backyard and down the street ?

The bozos that keep saying that we're winning in Iraq are the type that had they been alive during the Depression they would have been saying the economy is booming.

Oh no you don't!

As my brother, the rather odd Naval Person, pointed out a few years ago, the last time the US pulled Naval Assets from a country with a regular curved coastline on the Pacific Ocean, it lead to all manner of unpleasantness, such as Vietnamese fishing fleets in the Gulf of Mexico.

I have to call you on this one. You said British and American troops getting killed versus Californians being murdered, remember? Now you are adding in all the dead Iraqis to try to make your case believable. You made your point and when it is statistically refuted you try to change the rules, how typical. But it won't work because according to your original premise comparing the deaths of British and American troops to murdered Californians the statistics prove it is far more dangerous to be a soldier in Iraq. So your whole point that the danger of being murdered in California is also high is simply wrong. But that's what you get when you listen and believe the claptrap coming out of the mouths of right wing spin meisters. You are also proof that ignorant people are always the most susceptible to propaganda.

The price of gold for one. It just went over $500.00 again. Heavy investing in gold is usually a sign of "things are not quite right" (an understatement) in the economy.

I'm not surprised that you don't notice "bobbles", living in a shack in the California desert somewhere, driving around in a rusty old truck from job to job and living in a trailer.

Whereas you are the geopolitical wizard, telling others how ignorant they are? What a sad sack.

He is a great deal more aware compared to you over all. You're not even on the scale even though you think of yourself as a great intellect with a great understanding of "geopolitics". I'm surprised the Shrub hasn't contacted you yet to be one of his trusted advisers with all that brilliance of yours.

If you're so smart, why aren't you rich?

Dogs don't get NEARLY enough blame, even factoring in displaced flatulence and missing cookies..they lead the privileged life. If there's such a thing as reincarnation...but, I'd probably end up running the Iditarod.

Dog annoyance update: It seems that they hate the turkey call...at least for a while, they run and hide in their crate. I WIN!!!

Have you ever thought of inventing a hat with a built-in fire extinguisher, to shut down all those times you're runnign around with your hair on fire?

I might buy one if you do that.
