Pictures of surface defects in steel

May 25, 2004 1 Replies

Hello, Is there a good web site or book which shows pictures of defects that can occur with steels.

For example at work I have seen that after tool steel (S7) has been heat-treated the surface apears to have a rippling, something like a fingerprint or maze. More pronounced when microblasting.

Thanks for your time Qu1nn

Can't help you there.

I've also seen this in O1. I believe it was caused by grinding too fast with too hard a wheel.
