Squeaky X axis

If I do rapid moves on Y or Z axis, I do not hear any special noise.

On X axis, however, there is a squeaky noise. It comes from somewhere in the knee, as far as I could find out.

Any idea where to start

Sounds like you need more exercise! Tennis or jogging, etc. Paul

Do you have way covers?

Does this machine have box ways? If so it there an oil weep line on both sides?

This has ball screws? Are they being oiled?

How does the X motor feel? Temperature.

Do you have a stethoscope (cheap at harbor fright)? Use that to listen to various areas of the machine. Might offer a clue.

What's that Lassie? You say that Ignoramus30076 fell down the old rec.crafts.metalworking mine and will die if we don't mount a rescue by Wed, 04 Aug 2010 00:34:17 -0500:

Way guards/ way scrapers. Program a loop to run it back and forth at a speed that will make is squeak, then probe around with a stick or your fingers(if safe to do so). You should be able to alter or stop the squeak when you push on the right spot.

Yes. The X axis, specifically, is fully covered.

Yes.

I will check it when I get home on Monday, I do not recall.

Yes.

Supposedly, yes,. There is a powered oiler with many delivery lines.

Cool

I will get a stethoscope. This may also be an artifact of previously badly done tuning. I redid the same X movements and things sounded a bit better after I tuned the servos a little bit further.
