The care and feeding of Biax power scrapers

I picked up a Biax BL-40 from a local company which is doing its best to survive by shrinking to half it's original size. Not really a gloat, cost me UK£50 (say US$85).

It didn't have any blades or holders so I made up one to hold a 20mm Sandvic carbide scraper blade and had a play with it. It can certainly remove metal with less shoulder ache than the old manual method! It seems to be quite controllable too, although I probably need to round off the corners on the blades more than I would with a hand scraper, maybe an elliptical shape.

Anyway... Since I don't have a book for it, please can anyone tell me the approved way to adjust the length of stroke of these things or have I got to take it apart to work it out??

TIA

That's what I'd thought. I just wasn't looking hard enough. trotted out to the shed and shone a torch down the hole and realised that what I'd thought was a round hole was, in fact, a well shadowed 6mm hex socket (this one was built in Switzerland, I assume that American ones might be 1/4"). Thanks for the prod.

As it happens, what appears to be the only UK dealer is 10 miles away from home, so I think they might be getting a call.

Thanks again Mark Rand RTFM
