Trailer underside treatment

After I am done with my trailer, which could be as soon as tonight ortomorrow, I will need to paint it etc. For the visible part of it, Ithink that I will simply take it someplace to have it sandblasted andpainted. My question is about the underside. This trailer bed had its undersidetreated with tar. That more or less did the job of preventing rust,except for two crossmembers that completely rusted. My guess is thatsomehow water entered them from above and had no place to go. Allother ones are in great shape, probably because htey had holes drilledin them. I tried hammering them and had no indications that they werethinned out from inside. So. What is a sensible treatment for the underside. Can I simply hiresome company to reapply tar? Any other methods? What if I spray somecorrosion preventing heavy oil type of spray? i

Or the old aircraft way. Cross-drill as in the roller coaster tracks, and pour in linseed oil, then cap. As the linseed oil "dries" (oxidizes)it uses up all the oxygen inside the frame, so rusting is effectively halted. The linseed oil also coats the interior of the tubes, and seals any minute pinholes that would otherwize let oxygen (and moisture) in.
