The previous owner of our property was a forklift expert, and an energetic and creative guy who liked to build interesting new stuff.
One of the things that he built is still on our property: it's an elevator, made from the business end of a forklift powered by an electric motor and mounted on a frame, with an elevator cage that's designed to be lifted by forklifts on the forks.
It's this truly amazing and cool hand built elevator, that has at least two modes that I know of right off for killing people (there's nothing to keep curious children from getting underneath when it's up, to be crushed when it comes down, and there's a roof that would have sheared my head off against the deck rail if I hadn't realized how stupid I was being).
We haven't been using it, and if I do need an elevator I'm going to buy one that won't give my insurance people the heebie jeebies. I need the space, so I want to put it on Craig's List & get it out of here.
So my question is -- what is this thing worth, either together or as pieces? I have no idea what the forks came from, or whether they were modified to their current task. The cage part appears to be nearly unmodified, except for a bit of carport roof that is currently attached.
Any guidance?
Thanks.
