0.5mm aluminium sheet

Nov 05, 2004 7 Replies

anyone know of a good cheap supplier in the UK/Edinburgh for the above?

Radio control model shops have small sheets, usually imperial sizes.

B&Q usually carry some sheet metal, mild steel or AL in about that thickness.

The last sheet I bought ended up adorning a pantomime dame...

If there are any cheap suppliers of ali in Scotland I would like to hear about them.In the meantime I buy my ali(2.5 x 1.25mtr sheets)from CMP in Kirkaldy and D&D Stainless in Livingston. If you only want a small piece Metal Supermarkets in Livingston.Win the lottery first. All phone no`s in Edinburgh yellow pages. Where are you based? Regards,Mark.

I get mine from the local newspaper. They usually use thin aluminu

once for their printing machines and then sell them at very inexpensiv rates. The ink can be cleaned with a solvent

I'm based in Musselburgh and need a few sheets cut to more manageable sizes.

Is CMP usually the cheapest? The reason I ask is that its only 0.5mm and I need quite a bit of it on an ongoing basis so I would like to good supplier.

Cheers,

J

Just a quick update if anyone ever sees this - D&D doesn't do aluminium and CMP only stocks min. 1mm.

:(

James, doyou have an Aalco branch near you?

I've used the Southampton branch for work. It did take them three attempts to deliver the sizes I wanted accurately cut, without bent cornersscratch free and not covered in an oily film all things I needed for my electronic application. However they certainly supplied 0.5mm sheet.

regards

Bob
