2" and 1 1/2" copper pipe

I starting to build a heat exchanger and need some copper pipe - I'm having trouble sourcing it though and though I would ask.

I need about a meter of 2" and a meter of 1.5" copper pipe and a few fittings. Metric equivalents would be fine :)

Any ideas?

Cheers,

James

Builders still use it when putting it into new industrial buildings so you should be able to get it at Plumbing outlets.

Another 'Just Out Of Interest' question.....Is there a difference between tube and pipe? Does it become pipe over a certain diameter?

Cheers,

A year ago the best I could come up with was BES

. Today's prices:

£55.22 for 3m of 54 mm £43.02 for 3m of 42 mm +VAT but free delivery

I expect a plumber with an account would get a discount on that. BES also do larger size fittings. Most plumbing suppliers don't stock anything over 28 mm, occasionally 35 mm, but can get larger sizes in on order - however, not in 1m lengths.

If you find somewhere cheap please let me know - also if interested I might go halves on a larger purchase.

College engineering might be worth a call, but they are liable to be expensive.

In my world tube is defined by it's outside diameter, while pipe is defined by it's nominal inside diameter.

Take a look at the drill sizes for pipe thread taps and compare them to the nominal size.

do pipe up to 2" and tube up to 6"

You'll have to phone a branch to get a price, though the website lists the sizes the stock.

I would be more then happy to share an order with you. Here is my shopping list:

1 meter of 54mm copper tube 0.5 meter of 42mm copper tube 0.5 meter of 28mm copper tube

1 of 54mm cap

1 of 54mm x 54mm x 42mm tee 1 of 42mm 90deg 1 of 42mm to 28mm reducer 2 of 42mm cap 2 of 42mm x 42mm x 15mm tee 1 of 28mm to 15mm reducer

Its the tube thats really adding costs - and I only need a small amount of it.

What do you think?

Sorry - I should have clarified a bit. I need to connect this to a tank so I either need to find a 2" bulkhead fitting or I need some copper plate to make a flange - I'm running out of budget though :( - any ideas?
