We need 3 or 4 euro stillages to send some engines overseas, something like the green mesh pallet on this url:

We can't use ordinary timber pallets any more as they are banned from entry into the country of destination.

Anyone got any ideas on sources apart from new ones?

Can collect.

Peter,

I haven't a clue what these things cost but that seems a lot.

Anchor are expensive. Their main place is at Ripley, Derbyshire, and seems more reasonable than the Notts end of the business. Notts have some new and used MT shank drills by Dormer at least double what a new item with receipt would cost, they know this but just shrug it off.

Never heard of a stillage until a few days ago meself, then this request comes along and I can't remember where I heard it for a day or two...

eBay of course, when I was looking for "mesh" in the 400 per inch range!

Search "business/office/industrial" for stillage and there's a few. Dunno what cheap is, but £10-£25 beats £75...

One in Barnsley for £25

Just a thought - have you tried your local haulage companies?

Used to see these stacked up the side of Rover Car factory in Oxford before BMW bought the plant. They used to be delivered by the lorry load full of car parts for the assembly line. Liquidators of Rover probably had some. Problem is tracking them down. Maybe a haulage company have some rusting in the corner.

That's been my best source so far, but our local hauliers have closed/moved away and the yard is empty!

You can get lightweight steel pallets (I have one in Watford) if they are any use. The one I have came from Hong Kong I believe (air freight). If it's any use let me know and I'll drop it up to you (I still owe you for several gallons of very useful oil :-) ).
