Kennedy Hacksaw

Hi AllI've just bought a Kennedy hacksaw and I'm trying to cut with it and Ineed some advice.When I got the saw I couldn't lift the arm up and I dismantled it todiscover the damper was stuck. I can't assemble so it doesn't stick. I'm very puzzled as I assume it must have worked in the past. The rodto the damper changes angle as the blade falls and to compensate forthis the damper piston is barrel shaped - presumably so that it willwork at different angles. I suppose this ought to be a slice of asphere. I've measured the dashpot bore as well as I can at 31.61mm. IfI measure the piston across the worn strip in the middle I get 31.58mm. If I measure the piston across another diameter of the spherical slicethen I get 31.73mm. It's not very worn - in fact visible wear hasincreased noticeably with my mucking about. Does anyone know what isgoing on here?This is the model where you supplied your own motor and the one I gotwith it is immensely heavy - does anyone know what was recommended?Does anyone have a manual that they would be prepared to copy/scan forme please.I'd be grateful for any suggestions.ThanksRussell
