It could be something as simple as the mileage having been entered incorrectly somewhere at some point, or due to lack of recorded mileages. If the VRS doesn't detail why it's flagged as there being a discrepency, then it's probably because there is not enough history anywhere to verify it.
Provided things like the service book, and preivous mots look in order, I would disregard that part of the VRS.

Oddly, sometimes when I reply to a posting, the extra '>' doesn't appear on quoted lines, but 90% of the time it does, despite replying the same way each time (IE6 running under Win2K). So if you know what does this I'd be interested to hear.
