OT - Who is Mr Morse? - PolyTech Forum

Who is the Morse taper named after (invented by?). I'm sure I haveseen some discussion on this within the last couple (5?) years, but Ican't get a result on Google. It certainly wasn't Samuel Morse (Morsecode et al), must have been around the time of Whitworth, Naysmith,Bramah etc., and been a mechanical engineer.

Hi Allan,

I suspect that we were playing games as was Colin Dexter in Inspector Morse as his Lewis was a sort of son to him.

Meantime, hope that you are well- and the Stent?????
