looking for EUROPEAN supervisor for INTAS postdoc grant

Dear Sirs!

I am looking for European supervisor for INTAS postdoc grant. At present time i work on the problem of testing of different viscoelastic materials and products made on their basis. Laboratory of contact-dynamic methods of testing, which I represent, has been working for a number of years on creation of methods and means for nondestructive testing of such materials and has a number of creations in this field. In case if you become interested, please inform about your decision to this e-mail: snipped-for-privacy@iaph.bas-net.by. Sincerely, Alexander Kren Ph.D. Institute of applied physics, Belarus.

Title of research project

Investigation of elastomers behaviour under impact and development of theoretical background of the dynamic indentation method for evaluation of physical and mechanical characteristics and prediction of materials serviceability.

Research objectives

The purpose of the present project is to study the behaviour of elastomers under the dynamic condition of loading, with the help of the dynamic indentation method. Development of theoretical background of the dynamic indentation for the purposes of:

-creation of adequate models that describe the dynamic response of elastomers and the process of deformation;

-estimation of physical and mechanical characteristics;

-prediction of materials serviceability under various influences of temperature and loading. The purpose of the present project coincides with the main task of the mechanics of viscoelastic materials – gaining of information about their mechanical behaviour under different conditions of loading for the purpose of choosing a combination that provides the best performance, prediction of their behaviour under exploitation conditions. This task can be accomplished only with the help of simultaneous application of theoretical and experimental approaches. Experimental investigations conducted at the present time are primarily based on testing of specifically produced samples, characteristics of which can differ from characteristics of finished products due to either difference in formation of structure of the sample and the finished product or violation of technological process of production. The project suggests development of theoretical background for creation of devices for non-destructive testing of finished products (gaskets, o-rings, etc.). Application of information acquired during the investigation will allow to make a step towards establishment of connection between the microstructure, technological process of production and mechanical characteristics of applied materials.
