Buying ProE

Hi,

Is it possible to buy a "used"copy of Pro/E Wildfire 3?

Maybe from a company going out of business?

Thank You

No The company only owns a license for the right to use the software. You have to buy the whole company and then PTC will transfer the license rights.

Check with PTC. I heard, at one point, that it was possible to transfer licenses, plus maintenance and support. If you can get a pro-rated deal, why not!?! I know of no legal barriers, so maybe it's the market.... i.e., PTC gambling on making more from you as a new customer than as a buyin, second hand 'customer'. If they were smart, which they historically have not been when money was tight and sales highly competitive, they'd ease you into the fold (any way they could), into buying their products, into building up the legacy data, into expanding your capability, into staying with maintenance and support programs, etc. Much depends on how hard/soft their sales are. Be sure to check it out before contacting them.
