ProE maintenance Issue

I am getting the following message when I start ProE. When I click OK button ofcourse ProE shutsdown.

"license request failed for feature PROE_FoundationAdv: -97"

After talking to ProE maintenance support I leant that this is more of a maintenance issue. My maintenance contract with ProE expired in Dec

2007 and I am working to get that renewed. But my management is taking time to apporve my request. Can anybody here help me to keep ProE running?

Thanks.

I think you need a new licence file, which PTC won't give you until your company pays their maintenence.

You should call your reseller and explain the situation. It's in the resellers' best interest to see that you keep up your maintenance and remain a continuing customer. It may help to talk with another reseller about buying new licenses - that often gets things moving.

Thanks. I suppose I should just take your word for the source of the error message, but I've seen similar for more innoucuous reasons, such as a directory being renamed, hidden or locked, by accident, of course. So, just for a start, check the \text\licensing folder to make sure the license.dat file is actually there and the directory is readable. Then, open the license.dat file with Wordpad and check about 10 lines down for the Expiration date and confirm that it is, indeed, Dec last. If none of this shows cause for your difficulties, the easiest solution is to reinstall the software with Pro/SETUP disks and point it to your license file. But, if it is expired, tell your boss you're dead in the water until they cough up the grand for maintenance.
