CALL FOR BOOK CHAPTERS

Book Title: Computational Intelligence in Autonomous Robotic Systems The book will be published by Springer in its "Studies in Computational Intelligence" Series, and the estimated publication date is June 2008.

Call for Contributions:

The intended book will include the state-of-the-art studies on applications of computational intelligence (CI), including evolutionary computation, neural networks, fuzzy systems, and many others, to autonomous robotic systems carried out in recent years. It will focus on the most recent and unpublished research work on actual autonomous robots in real world based on CI methods. The preference will be given to those with physical realizations/implementations. The issues on transition of robotic behaviors from simulation to real world implementation should be addressed, and practical performance in physical environments needs to be evaluated. While this book will be more interested to research students, engineers and researchers in mechatronics, electrical, mechanical and computer system disciplines, it should also be interesting to persons in other fields such as recognition sciences due to its interdisciplinary feature.

Chapters of original research on CI applications are solicited in, but not limited to, the following areas:

Perception and environment awareness, robot navigation, multi-robot coordination and control, intelligent control of autonomous robots, terrain mapping and recognition, real-time robot vision and control, motion and path planning and coordination, autonomous wheeled and tracked vehicles, distributed architectures for learning, healthcare robotics, entertainment robotics, rescue robotics, biorobotics, humanoid robots, swarm robotics, self-calibration and self-repair, self-reproducing intelligent structures, CI as models for robotic system development, and other related fields.

Important Dates: Author's intentions to contribute a book chapter: June 28th, 2007 Submission deadline: September 28th, 2007 Author feedback and notification of decisions: December 28th, 2007 Final manuscript submission: February 28th, 2008

Electronic Submission: Book chapters should be prepared according to the standard Springer- Verlag format. An author kit will be sent to the intended contributors. All potential chapters should be submitted electronically as email attachment in PDF file format to Dr. Dikai Liu (Email: snipped-for-privacy@uts.edu.au).
