Some people use windows, others have a life.

If they eventually find an *effective* way of ridding the internet of at least some of its major "infestations", eg trolls, spammers, crank theorists, conmen, pop-ups, pop-unders, spyware, adware, virus-writers & their creations, furries, etc, then I reckon it should be at the top of the list of important technology.

I agree that Mentifex is, at best, vaporware, but I don't believe that a self-aware AI would have to be a human-scale mind to be useful. I would _love_ to have a car as smart as a really good dog. Think of working sheepdogs.

In my opinion, the best opponent-controlling AI in first-person shooter games has already exceeded this level. The reason why this AI has not translated to real-world robots is a lack of ability to percieve the world and make an internal map that's as good as the map the game AI has available.

I call dibs on running the wireless power broadcasting service...
