Langley? Catapulted FLIGHT?

Reply to
Steven P. McNicoll

He said navy. Langley catapulted his craft right into the river. Twice.

Catapulted floating, maybe?

Also, the first aircraft carrier was the U.S.S. Langley (complete with catapults...which is TOO funny for my warped sense of humor).

And for anyone interested, do some searching on the Smithsonian and the Wright Brothers. Makes me wonder just where the differences in opinion regarding the Wright's accomplishments started.

Alan Jones said "Probably somebody in the Navy. ;)"

You said, "Langley."

I don't believe Samuel Langley was ever in the Navy.

Which would not be a catapulted FLIGHT.

If you lived in their time and they were not around, flight would never had happened. It is losers like yourself that always take glee in belittling those to do. You, sir, obviously can not. The Wright Brothers designed a propeller that was more efficient than any propeller designed at that time. They designed and built their own engine. The Wright Brothers blazed a trail of innovation that others ended up copying. Their work laid the foundation of much that came after. The Wright Brothers were not funded by the government as were the college educated experts of that era. The government financed college elite failed. The bicycle guys succeeded. They were so successful that those who had failed used their work - often failing to credit them.

You sir are part of the stench that is trying to undermine everything that great Americans such as the Wright Brothers accomplished. You sir will fail. You see, you are a looser plane and simple. You could never, ever do what they did even with help. You are just a insignificant liberal trying to belittle your betters.

I am. It's you that is amusing.

Ehh? His living in their time would have had no effect on flight. Had the Wrights not lived someone else would likely eventually have developed controlled flight.
