Re: Is the NAR a Real Organization ?

Is SHE the NAR

Basicly yes. NAR is the most efficient club. You will get what you pay for. I personally guarantee it.

I guess its just a very small assoc and has no full-time employees but Im > just amazed at their lack of professionalism.

Yep.

That is a long time. Did the check clear yet?

Actually they processed mine and had it to me in about 12 days, not even 2 weeks. I did use a credit card though. Got the magazine right on time too and it still comes just like clock work.

I don't think that's the problem. Mail system perhaps. And that is the 800#. I'd keep trying until I got someone.

No, and if they didnt for some reason get the stuff I sent in then I somehow need to know. I guess I should to write them. Anyone have any other ideas ?

OK . I apologize for not telling the whole story. Accompanying my membership was the form for my L1 certification. Would that slow things down ? I imagine it might but if there were any kind of problem wouldnt myself or one of the guys who signed off on the cert form be contacted ? None have.

Anyway, I guess my frustration is not being able to talk to anyone. I'll keep calling and write them a letter. Thanks.

That's weird - I recently renewed via the website and my new card came in a couple of weeks.

Have you tried e-mail, either to the org or its president?

I'm not an expert in this, and it's been a while since I've looked at the L1 stuff. My assumption -- and I believe that this would be the assumption of any reasonable person -- that you'd need membership in an organization (for example, NAR) before you'd qualify for any of the benefits of membership like a certification issued by that organization (for example, L1 cert).

Still, I'd expect that NAR would at least deposit your check if they got it. And -- given the occasionally erratic performance of the postal service, there is a chance that your letter and check got lost.

As noted, a credit card works better.

May be that would slow it down a little but it has been a long time.

Perfectly understandable given the time frame.

I seem to have mail problems a lot. Of the 8 boxes I've sent to Iraq, 2 have come back after several months, for no apparent reason. Everything was fine according to the local post master, they just took a long trip and then came home. The funny thing was that the same day I got the last one back, my daughter came back from over there and she took the box out of the mail box. We all had a good laugh.

She's over there again and the 2nd and 3rd boxes have passed the 1st one sent.

Bill,

Bunny may be in contact with you as I know he called HQ about this. I just saw your message for the first time and called HQ to ask about the problem. The word is that they have no record of getting your application. It may have gone astray, as I know mail has been lost in the past when people have put on the wrong Zip code or box number. My suggestion would be to resend it or to use the web site and a credit card. However if you did not keep a copy of your L1 cert, you will have to have the people sign another one. Congratulation of the L1 and I hope the next try at joining works. If I can do any thing for you please write.

Yours,

Jack Kane, NAR S&T

I just got off the phone with a very nice woman who took care of a field addition, and it was a very pleasant conversation... she apparently had our file in front of her, and was quite professional in her manners. We even had the opportunity to laugh about a number of topics... (related to rocketry of course). She also assisted me in a couple of other maters... I don't see any problems...
